I would like to provide affordable, accessible copyediting and proofreading services to independently publishing and querying romance authors, particularly members of one or more marginalized groups. I have seen many a romance novel line up just short of amazing due to lack of proofreading. Spell-check doesn’t pick up wrong word choice.
Note: I am not limited to romance, but will give priority to romance authors from marginalized groups when scheduling.
Copyediting
Copyediting includes reading for grammar, word choice, continuity, and structure. It does not include developmental edits or reading for expertise on a subject or group of people.
Rates:
$500 – 150 pages; $1 per page after
$100 flat fee for short stories and novelettes up to 10K words
(Rates negotiable based on need and length.)
Proofreading
Proofreading includes reading for grammar and typos. It does not include making any significant changes to sentence or paragraph structure.
Rates:
$250 – 150 pages; $0.50 per page after
$75 flat fee for short stories and novelettes up to 10K words
(Rates negotiable based on need and length.)
Developmental Editing and Sensitivity/Expert Subject Reads are only available on a case-by-case basis.
